Bonsai Bar Bistro, Edinburgh

This was our second visit to Bonsai; the first time was as part of a large group but this time we were on our own. I had booked ahead but when we arrived there was only one other table occupied, so we were able to choose our table. We ordered in two “lots”, and had miso soup, edamame beans, vegetable tempura, tuna sashimi, salmon nigiri zushi, californian gaizin zushi, deep fried tofu, and seared beef, all of which was lovely. The tuna sashimi and the deep fried tofu wasn’t as tasty as I’d hoped, but were still good. We finished with mango and lemon sorbets, which were really nice. With two soft drinks the bill came to £47.60 in total; really good value, and the friendly waiter gave us a loyalty card to save 20% on our next visit (you need to spend £50 or five lots of £10 to qualify) – I’m not sure when we’ll be back unfortunately! The lunch specials look like particularly good value so if you are in Edinburgh then I highly recommend trying it.
